Small Weddings & Elopements
Micro Wedding Venue in Kansas
A short guest list should not mean a smaller day. At Smoky Valley Distillery in Marquette, micro weddings get the whole building — brick walls, warm light, a full-service bar pouring spirits we made ourselves, and a stage for the first dance.
There is no minimum guest count and no packaged menu you have to buy into. Bring twelve people or bring sixty.

Two Rooms, Two Sizes of Wedding
Most micro weddings land in one of two places. Both are under the same roof, both have their own bar, and both are yours for the day.
Up to 60
The Tasting Room
Our original room in the 1919 COOP building — dark wood, a long back bar, and rustic character already built in. This is the room for elopements, ceremonies with immediate family, and rehearsal dinners.
- Best for 10 to 60 guests
- Full-service bar with our own spirits
- Warm, intimate, low-effort to decorate
Up to 140
The Venue Room
The adjoining 1901 hardware store, rebuilt in 2023 into a proper event hall with a 15' x 30' stage. Room to seat the ceremony, clear the floor, and still have space to dance.
- Best for 60 to 140 guests
- Stage with speakers for a band, DJ, or toasts
- Second full-service bar
What Comes With the Room
A micro wedding budget goes further when the venue is not charging you for a hundred chairs you do not need. Here is what is already here when you arrive.
- Tables and seating
- Full-service bar staff
- 15' x 30' stage with speakers
- Wireless internet throughout
- Outside catering welcome
- Local caterer referrals
- On-site parking
- Alcoholic and non-alcoholic options
Rental rates and bar packages are quoted per event, because a Thursday elopement for fourteen and a Saturday reception for a hundred should not cost the same. Tell us your date and guest count and we will send real numbers.

Why Couples Pick a Distillery
Everyone Sleeps Nearby
Preston House sleeps 11 and is a walk from the front door, which makes us one of very few Kansas wedding venues where the wedding party can stay, get ready, celebrate, and walk home. See the lodging.
The Bar Is the Draw
Your signature cocktail can be made with vodka or bourbon distilled in the same building your guests are standing in. Add a tasting and tour as the rehearsal-day activity.
A Room With a Past
Century-old brick, tin ceilings, and a painted barber-shop mural behind the stage. It photographs beautifully and needs very little decorating to feel finished.

Micro Wedding FAQ
What is a micro wedding?
A micro wedding is a full wedding — ceremony, vows, toasts, dinner, dancing — held for a small guest list, usually somewhere between 10 and 50 people. Nothing is skipped; the guest count is simply smaller, which means the budget goes further per guest and the day feels more personal.
How small a wedding will you host?
There is no minimum guest count — an elopement with a couple and two witnesses is welcome. If your list grows past 60, we move you into the 140-seat venue room instead of the tasting room.
Can we hold the ceremony and the reception in the same place?
Yes. Both rooms are large enough to seat your ceremony, then reset for dinner and dancing while guests enjoy cocktails in the other space. Because we have two rooms under one roof, you are not moving your guests across town between the vows and the party.
Where does the wedding party get ready?
Most couples use Preston House, our lodging a short walk from the distillery that sleeps 11. It gives the wedding party a full house for the morning and a place to come back to at the end of the night. Ask us when you inquire and we will walk you through the options for your date.
Can we bring our own caterer, cake, and decorations?
Yes to all three. Outside catering is welcome and we are happy to recommend caterers who already know the building. Bring your own cake and decor as well. Alcohol is the one exception — beverage service runs through our licensed bars.
How far in advance should we book a micro wedding?
Saturdays and peak-season Fridays are typically reserved 6 to 12 months out. Micro weddings on a weekday, a Sunday, or in the winter months are often available with far shorter notice — sometimes just a few weeks. Send us your date and we will tell you honestly what is open.
Where do our guests stay?
Preston House, our own lodging, sleeps 11 and is within walking distance of the distillery — no one in the wedding party has to drive after the reception. Marquette sits about 30 minutes from Salina, so guests traveling in have options a short drive away.
