The Closest City to Our Distillery
Salina is our nearest major city — just a 30-minute scenic drive west on KS-4 through the charming town of Lindsborg. Whether you're a Salina local or visiting the area, Smoky Valley Distillery makes for the perfect afternoon outing.
Getting Here from Salina
The drive from Salina to Marquette is one of the most scenic short drives in central Kansas. Head west on KS-4, passing through Lindsborg — "Little Sweden USA" — where you can stop for Swedish pastries and shop the art galleries. Continue west through the rolling Smoky Hills until you reach Marquette.
The entire drive is about 25 miles on well-maintained Kansas highways with minimal traffic.
Buy Our Spirits in Salina
If you can't make the drive, our spirits are available at two Salina retailers:
- Brook's Liquor — full selection of our vodka, bourbon, and whiskey
- Cave Divers Liquor Store — carrying our complete lineup
Both locations stock all 10 of our handcrafted spirits, so you can pick up a bottle of Bud & Dewey's or Wild Plum Vodka without leaving town.
Make It a Day Trip
Here's a perfect Salina day trip itinerary:
- Morning: Drive to Marquette via Lindsborg (stop for coffee and pastries)
- Late Morning: Guided tour and tasting at Smoky Valley Distillery ($10/person, 30-45 min)
- Afternoon: Browse our retail shop and pick up your favorites
- On the Way Back: Stop in Lindsborg for lunch and shopping
Kernza Connection
Salina is home to The Land Institute, where Kernza — the perennial wheat we use in our Kernza Whiskey — was developed. When you visit our distillery, you can taste a spirit made from a grain that was developed just 25 miles away. It's a uniquely Kansas experience.
