Our Best Seller — and It's Easy to See Why
Bud & Dewey's is our wheated straight bourbon, and it's been our best-selling spirit since we introduced it. The secret is in the mash bill — where most bourbons use rye as the secondary grain, we use wheat. The result is a softer, sweeter, more approachable bourbon that appeals to seasoned whiskey drinkers and newcomers alike.
A Tribute to Bud Von Strohe and Dewey Grooms
Every bottle of Bud & Dewey's pays homage to the late Bud Von Strohe and Dewey Grooms — two old friends who never passed on a smooth sip of whiskey, a good cigar, or a great time. We wanted to create a bourbon that captures their spirit of camaraderie, and the easy-drinking character of this wheated bourbon delivers exactly that.
We invite you to enjoy our whiskey and enjoy life as Bud and Dewey did — with your glass always full.
What Makes Wheated Bourbon Different
In a traditional bourbon mash bill, rye provides the spicy kick. In a wheated bourbon like Bud & Dewey's, wheat replaces the rye, creating a softer, sweeter flavor profile. The wheat, combined with corn and malted barley, produces notes of sweet cereal, vanilla, and honey — without the peppery bite of rye.
This is the same approach used by some of the most sought-after bourbons in the world. Distilled in our 250-gallon pot still using local Kansas grains, in batches as small as 15 gallons and aged in new American oak barrels, our small-batch process lets us focus on quality over quantity.
Perfect for Sipping
Bud & Dewey's is smooth enough to sip neat, but it also makes an exceptional Old Fashioned when you use honey syrup in place of sugar. The honey and wheat complement each other beautifully, creating a cocktail that's warm, sweet, and deeply satisfying.
